Police Advice to College Girls: Don’t Wear Uniform, You’ll Attract Perverts

Back in January 24, 2011, Constable Michael Sanguinettia, a Toronto police officer, issued a strange warning after a pervert with a proclivity for girls in prep school skirts have been attacked on the subway. The officer warned  ”women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized.”

On April 3, 2011, the first of the Slutwalk protests took place in Toronto, Canada. More protests continued throughout the world, hoping to spread the message against blaming the victim for being attacked. In each of these protests, women took to the streets dressed in anything from t-shirts and jeans, to nothing at all. Their message was clear: don’t blame the victims for being raped because of the clothes they might have worn.
